Microsoft Surface Pro 6

What is the Microsoft Surface Pro 6?

The Microsoft Surface Pro 6 is a PC / Tablet that was designed to give users the power of a full desktop with the portability of a tablet. The Surface Pro was Microsoft’s answer to Apple when they released the iPad. The Surface had enough power to be used as an everyday computer for both personal and business use.

What’s inside?

The Microsoft Surface Pro 6 consists of some pretty amazing hardware. Microsoft offers several different configurations that you can choose from depending on your needs. Pricing will depend on what type of configuration you get but can range from $799.99 all the way to $2,395.00. Who should use the Microsoft Surface Pro 6?

As you can see they offer several different configurations for the Microsoft Surface Pro 6. The one that is right for you or for your business will depend on what you plan to use it for. For basic web surfing, one of the i5 options might be best for you. If you are planning to use it for Business and have some heavy resource intensive users, then one of the i7 options would be best.

Overall Quality

Overall the Surface felt very sturdy to us at Rezz Tech. We liked how light it was and how easy it was to carry. The one thing we are not a fan of is the keyboard. We haven’t had the opportunity to test it long term, but it felt very cheap and didn’t feel like it would withstand years of use. Although we aren’t fans of the keyboard, we do feel it’s a necessary component and everyone should pair the two for ease of use. For users in the office they do offer a docking station in which you can hook up a preferred keyboard and mouse.

Now one huge benefit of using the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 is the vast number of accessories that can be purchased with it. They offer an array of options such as the Surface Pen that allows you to draw and write on the Surface. The Surface Dial that allows you to interact with the Surface in a whole new way. Docking station that allows you to plug and play with two Monitors and much more. In the future we anticipate reviewing many of these accessories.

Battery Life

We tested the Surface running several different applications that we thought most users would utilize every day. Per Microsoft the Surface Pro 6 was supposed to last 13.5 hours. To produce the highest specifications, the way that Microsoft tests their devices will not apply to most people. Overall the Surface had a decent battery life lasting for about 4-8 hours on average depending on what actions were being performed. In the end we were happy with the battery performance of this device.

The surface scored very high across our board. However, it did fall short in a few areas. One of the biggest areas of concern is the storage space. If you plan on using this for graphic design, then you may find that your local storage will fill up fast. The other major issue is the one USB port on this device. Yes, you are trading space for portability, however it would be nice to have another USB port on the device. The docking station does address this problem but if you are on the go it can become a problem.

Should You Purchase the Surface?

While it depends on your needs and what you plan to do with the surface, our overall answer at Rezz Tech is yes you should. As an example using this product as a student it will give you the flexibility to study anywhere. From a business stand point this product could work very well for people in sales or even in the IT field. Just make sure you purchase a docking station!
